Detailed Instructions and Comments Below ↓

On first use, remove heat seal lining. Do not remove plastic plug in neck of bottle. Do not attempt refill or re-use bottles.

1) FILL
Loosen the cap and leave on the bottle. Squeeze the bottle until it fills to the desired mark in the filling chamber. Remove the cap.  (See "Suggested Serving Size" table below).

2) POUR
Pour oil onto food by tilting bottle in direction closest to bottle opening until chamber is emptied of oil.

3) STIR
Stir food. Re-cap container tightly; wipe sides and threads of any spilled oil.

Remove un-consumed MCT oil each day, so you are providing fresh oil. MCTs are oxidatively stable, but can hold onto odors of other components of the dog food.

For Sensitive Dogs

As you know, dogs have a very powerful sense of smell and taste, so MCT oils are pretty much tasteless and smell-less to humans, but dogs can pick it up. Some dogs may be more sensitive than others.

  • If the dog is not enjoying the MCT oil right away, try mixing the MCT oil with fish oil or meat or fish gravy, then add to dog food.  Alternatively, buy sardines or canned tuna in olive oil (or other oil) or water, and mix the MCT oil with those liquids, before adding to dog food.
  • Try introducing the MCT oil in smaller than recommended amounts, and gradually increase to the desired dose.
  • Remove un-consumed MCT oil each day, so you are providing fresh oil. MCTs are oxidatively stable, but can hold onto odors of other components of the dog’s food.

Additional Helpful Instructions

Serving Size:

  • Please read the label on the bottle carefully to identify the correct serving size for your dog’s body weight. Note that the recommended volumes are an approximation, not an exact science. Please give the oil mixed with food for best results and increase the dose gradually.
  • The dosage recommended responds to each serving, and a dog generally receives one serving of MCT oil, but up to 3 servings are acceptable.
  • If your dog is very large, say 100 pounds, double the amount which is recommended for a 50 pound dog at each serving.
  • For a very small dog: below “1/2” are the words “FL OZ” (Fluid Ounce). FLOZ corresponds to ¼ oz. Below FLOZ, is a faint line. You can feel it with a fingernail as it protrudes. Please mark it with a fine magic marker, and put clear tape over the writing. This faint line is for a dog  less than 15 pounds. That bottom line corresponds to 1/8 fluid ounces (0.125 ounces). 0.125 fluid ounces corresponds to 0.75 teaspoons or 0.25 tablespoons. You can use that marked bottom line for your dog, or you could dispense the oil into a small spoon. (The spoon should not be plastic, and these fractional-ounce-type spoons are sold in sets typically.)

Using the Bottle:

  • If it is challenging to identify the line to fill to for your dog’s body weight, mark the line you will fill the bottle to with a waterproof black magic marker or a piece of tape. This may make it easier to see the fill line you desire.
  • Loosen the cap and leave on the bottle (this keeps the oil free from dust).
  • With the bottle on a flat surface, carefully squeeze the bottle until it fills to the desired mark in the filling chamber.
  • Remove the cap.
  • Pour the bottle opposite the fill tube (towards the flat plane of the bottle) directly into the dog’s food. The bottle can be held at a 90 degree angle so that the flat edge is parallel to the floor.
  • If you want every drop out of the chamber, this requires about 30 seconds of waiting during the pour, and will yield up to 30 drops of additional oil.
  • The chamber is now completely empty and there is no oil on the outside of the bottle. Wipe the outside of the bottle if necessary.
  • Recap the bottle of oil tightly. Store the MCT oil at room temperature.

Note: All our packaging is MCT oil compatible. It would be easier to use a pouring spout or pump system, but then there are more soft plastics used in the inner workings of the mechanism, and the MCT oil could melt the plastics.
